Clouds Poem
By Janet Bentley
In the clouds, looking down at me,
Watching the pain below, feeling free
From the shame of being me
Up here, nothing can hurt me.
Now it's time to go back
From the cloud that saves me.
To the ugly that is me.
Until again I will feel free.
How is it that I believe
What you so willingly said to me?
Unspoken anger at what I believe to be,
A damaged little girl unable to see.
One distant day looking down at me,
I see a miracle of life;
Struggling to see the beauty;
That she was meant to be.
Love begins to breathe into me.
Is it possible I can feel worthy;
And I can finally be free?
Down below inside of me.
